The Banex shopping complex in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja witnessed the withdrawal of military forces earlier today.
The military, which had previously closed down the two-building complex, departed approximately half an hour ago.
An anonymous shop owner revealed that a meeting is currently underway between the complex’s management and the shop owners. “The military personnel departed about half an hour ago, and a meeting is now in progress between the management and the shop owners within one of the buildings,” the source shared.
When queried about the meeting’s specifics, the shop owner stated, “The management is deliberating on operational modalities. We are optimistic that the complex will reopen shortly. I am awaiting the conclusion of the meeting for further details.”
A representative from the Defence Headquarters confirmed the withdrawal, stating, “We are pulling out. Matters are being resolved.” When asked about the possibility of the complex resuming business, the representative affirmed, “Yes, that’s the reason for our withdrawal. As I mentioned, the issues are being sorted out.” When pressed for a specific reopening date, the representative confirmed, “Today.”
