In a recent interview with Arise TV, Prof. Jibrin Ibrahim, a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Democracy and Development, expressed his concerns about the current state of affairs in Nigeria.

We don’t have a government,” Ibrahim stated. “What we have are people enjoying themselves at the top.”

Highlighting the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians, Prof. Ibrahim noted that many citizens can no longer afford essential medications. “Nigerians can’t pay for drugs when they’re sick, which is why we see so many turning to prayer,” he explained.

Ibrahim’s scathing remarks come at a time when the Nigerian economy is struggling, with inflation rates soaring and the cost of living becoming increasingly unaffordable for many citizens. The professor’s comments highlight the disconnect between the government and the people, as he asserted that the country does not have a government, but rather “people enjoying themselves at the top.”

As a respected scholar and activist, his words carry weight and serve as a wake-up call for the authorities to prioritize the needs of the people and take concrete steps to alleviate the country’s economic woes.
