The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Southeast zone, Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has declared the party’s determination to secure Anambra State in the 2025 elections.

Arodiogbu emphasized that after winning Anambra, the APC would target Enugu and Abia states.

Speaking to journalists in Anambra, Arodiogbu acknowledged that the party had made errors in the 2023 general election but assured that these mistakes had been addressed. He stressed the party’s commitment to capturing the entire Southeast region.

Under his leadership, Arodiogbu noted that the APC had made significant strides and aimed to bring Anambra, currently governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as well as Enugu and Abia, governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) respectively, into the APC fold.

Efforts are underway to mobilize more members of the Ndigbo community to join the ruling party. “We are focused on correcting the mistakes of 2023 by winning the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election,” Arodiogbu stated. “Following that, we will aim for victories in Abia and Enugu. We have many positives in the zone, and we hope these will lead to success.”

He also highlighted recent defections of prominent South East stakeholders to the APC as part of their strategy. “The party has been continuously mobilizing members, leading to several key figures joining our progressive ranks,” he added.

This statement comes in the wake of former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim’s defection from the main opposition PDP to the APC, signaling a shift in the political landscape of the Southeast region.
