Firm hails president for naming its leader to pick top high school seniorsA Washington policy firm announced that President Donald Trump appointed Dr Von Batten as a commissioner on the Commission on Presidential Scholars on August 31 2026.
The firm Von Batten Montague York said it will remain grateful to the most consequential American president in our lifetime for choosing to honor Dr Von Batten with that appointment.
The commission consists of private citizens picked by the president from fields such as education medicine law business and public service.
Members review finalists and choose up to 161 graduating high school seniors each year who show exceptional work in academics the arts career and technical education along with strong public service.
Those selected receive national recognition and a medallion. Commissioners serve without pay and at the pleasure of the president. The program began in 1964 to honor the nations most promising young people.
