The PDP Governors’ Forum, under the leadership of Governor Bala A. Mohammed of Bauchi State, held a meeting at the Enugu State Government House on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the governors addressed the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

The Crisis in Rivers State

The Forum noted the crisis within the Rivers State chapter of the PDP and committed to ensuring peace in the state. The governors resolved to stand by Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, while also employing wider consultations with stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the crisis.

Economic Hardship and Call for PDP’s Return to Power

The governors lamented that the 16 years of progress the country experienced under PDP rule have been eroded by the current APC-led federal government. They identified with the Nigerian populace in these troubling times and promised to bring back the good old days of low inflation, affordable living costs, and a higher standard of living.

The Forum called on all Nigerians to refrain from anarchy as the party marches towards reclaiming power in the 2027 general elections.

Agenda for the Meeting

The governors said they would share ideas on how to move the party and the nation forward, discussing party administration and the upcoming elections in Edo State and the 2027 general election.
