Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Southern Borno, has launched a fierce verbal attack on Mr. Daniel Bwala, a former critic of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-aide to Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Ndume referred to Bwala as a “Mad Dog,” accusing him of being a political liability to President Tinubu.

This outburst followed Bwala’s allegations that Ndume was planning to mobilize youths in his local government, Hawul, to attack him. Ndume vehemently denied these accusations, suggesting that Bwala was merely seeking President Tinubu’s sympathy.

Ndume expressed his frustration, noting that Bwala, who claims to be an indigene of Hawul, cannot trace his actual roots. He criticized Bwala’s tactics of using social media to gain attention and sympathy from the President.

Ndume’s words were pointed: “Ordinarily, I do not want to engage with Mr. Bwala, who claims to be from Hawul local government, part of my constituency. I can describe Daniel Bwala as a failed lawyer and an empty drum making noise in Abuja. I initially did not want to respond, but because Bwala spoke about threats and mobilizing youths to attack him, which has security implications, I felt compelled to address it. I believe Bwala’s strategy is to garner the attention and sympathy of Mr. President to obtain police protection and possibly a job.”

He added, “We have credible people in Hawul local government, and they know who Daniel Bwala is. When I saw his message on X, I thought it was Inuwa Bwala, the former Caretaker Chairman of Hawul and a renowned journalist. I quickly clarified with him, and he confirmed it was not him.”

“Later, I learned it was Daniel Bwala, who has no political relevance in Southern Borno. I replied to his post, stating that if accusing and abusing me on Twitter or in newspapers would help him gain something from Tinubu after failing as a lawyer in Abuja, I would be happy for him.”

Ndume emphasized the support he receives from credible figures in Hawul, mentioning three former Deputy Governors who are his ardent supporters. He accused Bwala of attempting to paint the peace-loving youths as violent and seeking to instigate political violence, which Ndume claimed is not in their character.

“My advice to President Tinubu is that politically, Daniel Bwala is just a Mad Dog who barks and bites even his owner. Tinubu should be cautious with individuals like Bwala. Bwala was once a member of the APC but later defected to support former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, hurling insults at Tinubu on live television. Bwala is only useful for attacking people. As the 2027 general elections approach, I advise Bwala to return to Borno and trace his roots.”

Ndume concluded with a quote from Peter Tosh: “If you are sorry for a Mad Dog, it will turn around and bite you.”
