In a trending social media exchange, an X user and member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Obiasogu David, openly challenged the views of Pastor E.A. Adeboye regarding Nigeria’s ongoing crisis.

In a strongly worded tweet titled “Dear Pastor Adeboye, You Lied!” David accused the pastor’s of misleading the public by attributing Nigeria’s problems to spiritual issues rather than political failures.

David expressed his disappointment, stating, “Dear Pastor Adeboye, you ‘lied!’ – and here’s how!”

He argued that the root of Nigeria’s problems lies with its “cruel political leaders,” specifically mentioning President Bola Tinubu. David recalled Adeboye’s previous activism, highlighting a letter the pastor wrote to then-President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010, signaling his intention to lead a protest against the government’s handling of insecurity. He contrasted the situation under Jonathan, where fuel prices were manageable and living conditions were better, with the current economic struggles under Tinubu.

David questioned why Adeboye labeled Jonathan’s administration as incompetent while attributing Tinubu’s governance issues to spiritual problems. He pointed out that Nigeria’s economy was performing better under Jonathan, thanks to experienced technocrats in key positions, and criticized the current administration for its harsh economic policies.

He urged Adeboye to provide specific prayer points for the nation’s leaders, suggesting that prayers alone are insufficient without tangible action from the government. David also referenced Adeboye’s past protests against insecurity, questioning the shift in narrative that now frames the issue as a spiritual one rather than a political failure.

In conclusion, David challenged Adeboye’s authority and influence, suggesting that the pastor’s alignment with political figures may compromise his message. He emphasized the need for accountability from leaders rather than solely relying on prayer.
