President Bola Tinubu has hailed Senator Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the Edo governorship election as a clear endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its economic policies.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu hailed the win as a testament to the people’s support for the APC, its progressive policies, and its economic reforms aimed at bettering the lives of Nigerians.

He emphasized that the win reflects the people’s confidence in the party’s progressive ideals and its efforts to improve Nigeria’s economy.

The President also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organizing a free and fair election, encouraging any aggrieved parties to seek resolution through legal channels. “This victory reflects the people’s trust in the ruling party, its ideals of progress, economic transformation, and commitment to improving the well-being of citizens,” Tinubu noted.

Urging Senator Okpebholo to approach his win with humility, the President emphasized the need to unite the people of Edo State and work toward its development. He called on the newly elected governor to extend an olive branch to his political opponents.

Tinubu also commended the other candidates for their contributions to Nigeria’s growing democracy and praised the people of Edo State for their peaceful conduct during the election. He highlighted the event as an example of Nigeria’s democratic maturity after 25 years.

“I also want to acknowledge the efforts of INEC and the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and largely smooth election process. INEC has once again shown its commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria,” Tinubu concluded.
