A few months after acquiring a new presidential jet amid ongoing economic challenges, President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja today for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, part of his annual leave.

This trip follows his recent Independence Day address, where he urged Nigerians to endure the nation’s economic hardships.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu has embarked on over 20 international trips, many of which were claimed at attracting foreign investment and securing international support for Nigeria.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, described the vacation as “part of his yearly leave.”

One factor contributing to the frequency of these trips is the absence of ambassadors in key international posts, requiring the President’s direct involvement in diplomatic and economic matters.

This latest trip to the UK comes just two weeks after his return from London, where he met with King Charles III.

Below is a list of countries Tinubu has visited so far:

  1. Equatorial Guinea
  2. London (four times)
  3. United Kingdom (twice)
  4. Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice)
  5. Nairobi, Kenya
  6. Porto Norvo
  7. Benin Republic
