Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, issued a heartfelt statement on November 8, 2024, following the funeral of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu in Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State.

Joining fellow Nigerians to honor the former Governor of Abia State and Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Obi praised Dr. Onu’s legacy of selfless leadership.

Dr. Onu, he noted, was an exemplary leader whose dedication to justice, peace, good governance, fairness, and equity set him apart. Reflecting on Dr. Onu’s commitment to national progress, Obi emphasized his initiatives aimed at boosting local production and fostering sustainable development across Nigeria.

The ceremony, Obi observed, was a powerful testament to Dr. Onu’s positive influence and the many lives he touched. “His death remains a great loss to the country,” Obi shared, “and has left a big vacuum in our nation.”

Obi extended his prayers for Dr. Onu’s family and loved ones, asking God to grant them comfort and strength. “May God protect and bless his family always,” he concluded.
