Steve Hanke, a professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to highlight the dismal performance of Nigeria’s currency, the naira.

In his post, tagged with #NGAWatch🇳🇬, Hanke criticized Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dubbing him the “Master of Disaster.”

The naira has been listed as the 4th worst-performing currency in the world on Hanke’s #CurrencyWatchlist.

Hanke pointed out that the naira has depreciated approximately 32% against the U.S. dollar since the beginning of the year, reflecting significant economic challenges under Tinubu’s administration.
