Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, recently expressed his admiration for remarkable Nigerians making significant contributions to society.

In a statement, he highlighted the achievements of Ugo Ugochukwu at the 2024 FIA World Cup and extended his congratulations to two other inspiring individuals.

First, Obi celebrated Sister Francisca Ngozi Uti, who received the prestigious 2024 Opus Prize, a $1.2 million award honoring her exceptional humanitarian work globally. As the founder and executive director of the Centre for Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI) in Abuja, Sister Ngozi is dedicated to empowering women through education and economic opportunities, helping them achieve independence and encouraging social responsibility among girls and women.

Next, Obi recognized Prof. Matthew Ayorinde, a professor of Physical Chemistry at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), who was awarded the NAS Gold Medal by the Nigerian Academy of Science. This accolade acknowledges his significant contributions to materials science and applied chemistry through extensive academic research.

Both Sister Ngozi and Prof. Ayorinde exemplify dedication and excellence in their fields. Obi congratulated them on their achievements and encouraged them to utilize their newfound recognition to further contribute to societal development.
