On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu was warmly welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron during a landmark visit to France aimed at bolstering economic collaboration and strategic partnerships.

The two-day visit marks the first official state visit by a Nigerian leader to France in over 20 years, reflecting renewed efforts by both nations to deepen ties. Tinubu was received with full honors at the historic Invalides Memorial Complex in Paris, where the national anthems of both countries resonated in a symbolic gesture of mutual respect.

President Macron described the visit as “an opportunity to deepen the already dynamic relationship between France and Nigeria.”

Tinubu’s office emphasized Nigeria’s focus on strengthening cooperation in critical areas, including agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition.

The visit comes at a time when France is seeking to expand its influence in English-speaking Africa following challenges with some of its traditional allies. Tinubu and Macron are set to address shared priorities in finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communication.

Tinubu arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening, setting the stage for discussions aimed at fostering a robust and mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.
