At the Labour Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, 2023 presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi issued a passionate call to action, urging party members to stand firm in the face of national decline and not be intimidated by political forces.

“Do not fear anybody. Those who were afraid yesterday didn’t change anything,” Obi declared. “Nigeria is on the brink. The facts are undeniable—our people are becoming poorer by the day.”

He stressed the urgency of national rescue and emphasized that the Labour Party must remain unified and inclusive. “We are a family. This is not about Peter Obi—it’s about all of us. The Labour Party must be fair, just, and welcoming to everyone.”

As preparations for future elections begin, Obi highlighted the need for readiness and excellence. “We aim to present the best candidates—from the House of Reps to the Presidency. Competence and loyalty are non-negotiable.”

Reflecting on past shortcomings, he called for a higher standard within the party. “We must learn from our mistakes. Those who seek office through our platform must be dedicated and capable—not just visitors.”
