Dr. Chile Eboe-Osuji, a distinguished Nigerian-Canadian international jurist, has been appointed as a judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), effective April 11, 2025.

This appointment follows the retirement of Justice Andrew Burgess and was made by the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission.

Born in Anara community, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria, Dr. Eboe-Osuji is celebrated for his historic tenure as the first and only Black President of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, serving from 2018 to 2021. His remarkable career reflects an exceptional commitment to global legal practice and justice.

Dr. Eboe-Osuji’s educational journey began at Aquinas Secondary School in Mbano and the University of Calabar in Nigeria, before pursuing advanced legal studies abroad. His outstanding contributions also include his membership in the Media Freedom Coalition’s High-Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom.

With this new chapter in his illustrious career, Dr. Eboe-Osuji continues to serve as an inspirational figure in the international legal community.
