The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Africa Program had the honor of hosting Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings.

Obi, recognized for his commitment to good governance and prudent financial management during his tenure, engaged with policy experts and stakeholders on critical issues facing Nigeria and the broader African continent.

The event, held during the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings, provided a platform for engaging dialogue on Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.

CSIS expressed gratitude for Obi’s participation, highlighting the honor of hosting such a prominent figure.

Obi’s leadership in Anambra State, which spanned from 2006 to 2014, was marked by significant reforms in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

He is widely respected for his fiscal discipline, notably leaving substantial financial savings for the state upon his exit from office.

As a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, Obi continues to be an influential voice in discussions about governance, economic development, and public sector efficiency in Africa
