Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), cannot “take the risk” of returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdullahi emphasized that Obi is currently a member of the ADC coalition, reinforcing his commitment to this political alliance.

Speaking on Monday during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time, Abdullahi responded to speculations regarding the PDP’s alleged attempts to woo Obi back to their fold. “Let me say clearly, Peter Obi is in the coalition,” he declared unequivocally, affirming Obi’s dedication to the ADC partnership despite rumors to the contrary.

He further noted that the ADC’s inclusion in the political landscape has pressured the PDP to begin making strategic moves. However, Abdullahi underscored that the PDP’s vitality is largely controlled by the ruling party, implying that Obi’s return to PDP would be politically precarious. “Peter Obi, more than anyone else, knows that he cannot take the risk of going to the PDP,” he added.

This statement comes amid ongoing political realignments as Nigeria prepares for future elections, with the ADC positioning itself as a viable coalition and Obi remaining a pivotal figure in the opposition landscape. Abdullahi’s comments clarify the ADC’s stance and Obi’s political alignment, dismissing the notion of his return to PDP as unlikely and risky.

These remarks reflect the broader contest for influence among Nigeria’s major political parties and coalitions ahead of forthcoming electoral battles
