The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a cautionary notice to visa applicants, emphasizing that failing to disclose social media information could result in visa denial and future ineligibility.
In a statement posted on social media Monday morning, the US Mission reminded applicants that they are required to provide all social media usernames or handles used in the past five years when completing the DS-160 visa application form.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last five years on the DS-160 visa application form,” the post reads.
Applicants are also expected to certify that all information provided is accurate before submission. Any omission or misrepresentation especially regarding social media history could lead to immediate disqualification and affect future applications.
The warning serves as a reminder of the importance of full disclosure and accuracy in the US visa process.
