The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from recent remarks made by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, clarifying that his comments are his personal views and not reflective of the party’s official stance.

Speaking in response to Baba-Ahmed’s criticism, ADC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, emphasized the party’s ongoing efforts to unify opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed had accused the ADC of “deceiving Nigerians” and questioned the party’s capability to deliver meaningful development.

In a formal statement, Wayas said, “Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed’s assertions are his personal opinions and do not reflect the position of the ADC or its coalition partners.”

Wayas also acknowledged Baba-Ahmed’s longstanding commitment to integrity and justice, and expressed hope that he would reconsider joining the coalition effort.

“The coalition is a collective effort that requires the strength and skills of all patriots,” she added. “We sincerely hope he comes on board to contribute to this shared vision for a better Nigeria.”
