Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has publicly expressed her gratitude to prominent Nigerians and organisations that stood by her during her six-month suspension from the Senate.
Her office, which had been sealed during the suspension, was reopened on Tuesday by the National Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms, allowing her to resume official duties.
Speaking to journalists, Natasha highlighted the support of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili, and several civil society leaders.
She stated, “I thank people like Aunty Oby Ezekwesili, Sister Aisha, Mama Pee, Dr Abiola, Peter d Rock, Yemi of Enough is Enough, Femi Falana, and many others whose names I can’t even recall. Atiku Abubakar, Saraki, and political parties including LP and ADC, along with my beloved PDP, the Nigerian Bar Association, and Nigerian Labour Congress, all lent their voices. I believe their support pressured the Senate President to realise I could not be kept down.”
Natasha was suspended earlier this year following her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The move prompted widespread criticism, with many describing the suspension as excessive and undemocratic.
