The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed an early-morning explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo Local Government Area, assuring residents that the situation has been fully brought under control.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that no lives were lost in the incident.

He explained that a joint security team comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and local vigilante groups swiftly cordoned off the area and secured the hospital premises shortly after the explosion occurred. Specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit were also deployed to assess the scene.

Although one building within the hospital’s staff quarters was damaged, police confirmed that occupants had evacuated the area before the explosion.

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State has ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams to ensure sustained peace and prevent any breakdown of law and order. Meanwhile, a full-scale investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the explosion.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and to stay away from the hospital vicinity to allow security operatives carry out their duties effectively. The police assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
