The Obidient Movement has rejected the outcome of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress candidate winner.
The group, which backed the African Democratic Congress candidate, alleged that the election was marred by violence, intimidation, and result manipulation.
According to the movement, one of its agents was killed during the poll while trying to stop suspected thugs from snatching ballot boxes. The incident reportedly caused panic among party agents in several polling units.
The group described the declared result as a “hijacked mandate,” insisting that it did not reflect the true will of the voters in AMAC.
It also accused INEC of contributing to voter confusion by making changes to polling units without enough public notice, which it said discouraged many people from voting.
The Obidient Movement called for a thorough and transparent review of the election and urged security agencies to investigate the violence and bring those responsible to justice.
It further appealed to Nigerians and civil society groups to demand accountability and protect the integrity of future elections.
