A senior figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has launched a fresh attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the National Assembly, accusing individuals allegedly linked to the theft of ₦500 billion in public funds of overseeing the nation’s affairs.
Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, Galadima criticised the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, claiming that some lawmakers accused of massive corruption are now “presiding over Nigeria’s destiny.”
He further alleged that despite the APC controlling most state governments, the party appears uneasy about facing a genuinely free and fair election. According to him, if the ruling party had delivered meaningful performance in office, it would have no reason to fear the electoral process.
Galadima also accused the government of deploying state institutions to intimidate opposition figures and suppress dissenting voices. He cited the detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami as examples of what he described as selective prosecution.
While clarifying that he is not opposed to holding public officials accountable, Galadima maintained that justice must not be applied selectively. He challenged members of the ruling party to swear by the Quran or the Bible that they have not committed more serious offences than those currently facing prosecution.
He warned that the actions of the 10th National Assembly and the APC-led government risk deepening public anger, stressing that democracy must protect opposition voices, uphold free speech, and ensure equal accountability under the law.
