Singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has stirred controversy after warning Nigerians to support Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election or risk violence.

In a video that spread online on Sunday, Portable claimed the country could fall into civil war if Tinubu is not re elected. He told viewers that choosing otherwise could lead to conflict similar to tensions between Iran and United States.

He also tried to appeal to supporters by promising to provide basic items like oil pepper and noodles while urging them to vote for Tinubu. He said the next term should belong to the Yoruba and warned that any Yoruba person who refuses to support Tinubu would face serious consequences.

Police in Ogun State where the singer lives reacted cautiously. Spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi said he needed to review the video before making any official comment and did not respond further after an initial reply.

Portable’s comments come at a time when heated and sometimes aggressive messages are beginning to appear ahead of the 2027 election season.

Recently Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, warned opposition figures including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi not to campaign in the South West region, adding to concerns about rising political tension.
