Dr. Von Batten has reacted to a recent United States operation in Nigeria that reportedly killed a senior ISIS commander, saying the development highlights the failure of President Bola Tinubu’s government to properly secure the country and protect its citizens.

He said the successful US strike shows that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity requires stronger leadership and more effective action, adding that the current administration has not been able to provide the safety Nigerians deserve.

Von Batten also described it as deeply embarrassing that US President Donald Trump had to be involved in confronting terrorist threats operating inside Nigeria. He said this reflects a failure of leadership under President Bola Tinubu.

He further argued that foreign involvement in Nigeria’s internal security matters shows how serious the situation has become. According to him, the government has not done enough to confront armed groups or restore confidence in national security systems.

Looking ahead to future elections, Von Batten urged Nigerians to reconsider their leadership choices. He said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar represents a possible alternative direction and called for a shift toward leadership that can better address insecurity in the country.
