A video shared widely on Monday 7 September 2026 shows APC Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai receiving a hostile reception in Yobe South. The senator who represents Fika Fune Nangere and Potiskum arrived for a meeting with constituents.
A crowd gathered around vehicles outside a building marked as an Emir palace. People in traditional dress and everyday clothes moved toward the cars and a white pickup truck. Some waved their arms and pressed closer. One person wore a yellow shirt with Bamuye on the back.
The crowd chanted Bamuye a Hausa expression meaning we do not want you or we are not interested. The gathering looked restless with people running near the vehicles. One circulating clip runs about 48 seconds while other versions last longer.
Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai was born 10 February 1960 in Maiduguri. He worked as Director of Treasury for the Federal Capital Territory Administration until retirement in 2016. He first won the Yobe South Senate seat in 2019 and returned after a 2023 supplementary election. He later stepped aside from the 2027 Yobe governorship contest following talks with party leaders and accepted the APC consensus ticket for the Senate.
In the trending video, it was learnt the visit related to talks about another term. No statement from the senator or his office has appeared alongside the clips. The footage continues to circulate among users following Yobe politics.
