SDP presidential candidate Adebayo has launched a fresh and highly critical attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing the president of avoiding public scrutiny and questioning his ability to lead Nigeria.
Adebayo claimed that Tinubu has spent almost four years in office without taking what he described as a single test or passing any interviews. He further alleged that the president could be staying in hospitals in Europe, seeking financial support elsewhere, or avoiding investigators.
The SDP candidate made the allegations while expressing concern over what he described as the growing challenges facing a country whose population is moving steadily toward 300 million people.
According to Adebayo, Nigeria cannot afford to wait for one individual when the country requires strong and focused leadership.
He argued that the size and needs of Nigeria’s population demand a president who is fully present, clear minded and able to respond directly to questions about the state of the country.
The comments add to the growing political criticism surrounding Tinubu’s administration as opposition figures continue to question the president’s leadership, public appearances and handling of national issues.
Adebayo’s remarks, however, remain allegations from a political opponent and do not by themselves establish that Tinubu is hiding in Europe, seeking money or avoiding investigators.
The statement is likely to further intensify political debate ahead of Nigeria’s next electoral cycle, with opposition politicians expected to continue pressing the presidency over governance, accountability and the president’s capacity to lead the country.
With Nigeria facing major economic, security and social pressures, the SDP candidate said the country of nearly 300 million people should not be placed in a position where its future depends on waiting for one person to act.
