A United States policy advisory and lobbying firm has accused the Nigerian Presidency of timing a latest alleged attempt to rig the upcoming presidential election badly.

Von Batten Montague York L.C. made the claim in a statement posted on X amid a Federal High Court decision in Abuja that nullified the leadership of the African Democratic Congress under former Senate President David Mark and invalidated the nomination of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party candidate for the 2027 election.

The firm said an angry Republicans caucus remains in control of Congress until January 2027 while emboldened congressional Democrats prepare to investigate President Bola Tinubu mining memorandum of understanding.

It stated that the Nigerian Presidency picked the wrong time for what it called its latest alleged effort to interfere in the election process.

According to the statement the move appeared driven by fear after a large turnout the previous day in support of Atiku Abubakar who is described as President Tinubu main political opponent.

The firm reported that Tinubu officials met the night before and that the result of that meeting is allegedly the highly suspicious court ruling delivered by Justice Peter Lifu. The ruling also sacked other national officers including Rauf Aregbesola and cancelled nominations of candidates that emerged under the disputed leadership.

The firm said it is gathering more information and will engage senior members of the President Donald Trump administration along with Republicans and Democrats in Congress.

It warned that the alleged actions of Tinubu risk pushing Nigeria closer to political unrest with dire consequences for United States interests and regional stability. The statement ended with a call to standby as further details emerge.

For now, its warning signals a possible effort to bring the allegations surrounding Nigeria’s electoral process to the attention of the Trump administration and members of the United States Congress.
