Ibrahim H. Abdulkarim, a prominent figure within the Labour Party, has expressed admiration for Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State.

Abdulkarim, who is part of Peter Obi’s team and a frontrunner for the LP national chairman position, lauded Obi’s legacy during his tenure as governor.

In a message shared via his X handle, Abdulkarim referred to a “sweetest handover letter” that any incoming governor could receive from their predecessor. He specifically addressed Peter Obi, acknowledging his accomplishments and the positive impact he made during his time in office. The absence of unpaid salaries, pensions, and contractors under Obi’s leadership was highlighted, emphasizing his commitment to good governance.

Furthermore, Abdulkarim hinted at a larger legacy that would be passed on to a Northerner after eight years of Peter Obi’s presidency. The message encourages Northerners to consider supporting and voting for Peter Obi, emphasizing the possibility of a “New Nigeria” under his leadership.

Peter Obi, a businessman-turned-politician, served as the Governor of Anambra State three separate times from 2006 to 2014. His terms were marked by improvements in state finances, education, and healthcare. In May 2022, he became the Labour Party nominee for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election12. His reputation as an advocate for good governance and national political figure has grown over the years, making him a significant player in Nigerian politics.

As the LP’s authentic presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s legacy continues to resonate, and his vision for a better Nigeria remains a compelling proposition for voters across the country
