The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says President Bola Tinubu has lost the trust of most Nigerians, pointing to a recent survey showing that only 30 percent of citizens approve of his performance after three years in office. The party said the findings reflect deep public anger over worsening economic conditions, unemployment, and insecurity.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the reported approval rating of 30.2 percent after three years in office shows that most Nigerians have lost confidence in the administration.

The ADC said the survey indicates that 47.5 percent of respondents disapprove of the President’s performance, while about 70 percent of Nigerians are either dissatisfied with the direction of the country, unconvinced by its leadership, or unwilling to support its current path.

It argued that the figures represent a clear rejection of the government and insisted that after three years in office, the President can no longer attribute Nigeria’s challenges to past administrations.

According to the survey conducted by Eagle Badger Data Analytics, 62 percent of Nigerians say their living conditions have worsened since May 2023 when Tinubu assumed office. Only 23.3 percent say their lives have improved, while 42.4 percent describe themselves as being much worse off than before.

The ADC said these findings reflect everyday realities faced by citizens, including rising food prices, higher transport costs, business closures, and increasing unemployment. It added that many families can no longer comfortably afford basic needs such as food, rent, school fees, and transportation.

The party also highlighted economic data from the survey showing that food prices have risen by more than 90 percent since May 2023, while overall price levels have increased by about 80 percent. It said these increases are directly felt by Nigerians in markets and households across the country.

On insecurity, the ADC said many communities remain under threat from bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, and criminal gangs. It noted that farmers in several regions are unable to access their farmlands safely, while thousands of lives have been lost and millions of people continue to live in fear.

The party stressed that leadership should be judged by outcomes and not excuses, adding that the current administration is fully responsible for the state of the country after three years in power.

It also pointed out that the survey found a strong link between worsening personal conditions and public disapproval. Among Nigerians who say their situation has become much worse, more than 73 percent reportedly disapprove of the President’s performance.

The ADC concluded that the results show failures in economic management, job creation, security, and public trust. It said Nigerians deserve better governance that delivers real improvements in living standards rather than official statistics.

As attention turns toward the 2027 political season, the party said the survey should be seen as a warning that citizens are demanding change and better results from leadership.
