The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, has passed away following a battle with health complications.

Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.

According to family sources, Ayilara underwent surgery for prostate cancer on Wednesday but tragically passed away just hours after the procedure.

A family member, speaking anonymously, expressed deep sorrow over the loss: “We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family member, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead,” the source shared, reflecting the family’s grief.
