The Anambra State Government has expressed its admiration for Mr. Peter Obi, the previous Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, acknowledging his substantial contributions to education during his term.

The Government noted that these impressive accomplishments continue to lay the groundwork for the state’s ongoing educational progress.

These sentiments were conveyed by Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, at the funeral service for Chief Alexander Ejesieme, Snr., which took place at St. John’s Catholic Church, Agulu, on Friday. He underscored the lasting impact of the educational reforms introduced by Peter Obi in the State and stressed the need for continued educational advancement. He also disclosed that Gov. Soludo has recently earmarked significant funds to aid mission schools in the state.

Dr. Ibezim expressed his gratitude to Mr. Peter Obi for his numerous contributions to the education sector, which are serving as a foundation for further development. “Just yesterday, Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo allocated a sum of N1.5 billion to missionary schools in the state. This is part of his administration’s efforts to maintain the standard of education in the state,” Ibezim stated.

In his quest to revolutionize education in the State, Mr. Peter Obi, in 2011, handed back all mission schools to their original proprietors, the church, while ensuring sufficient funding from the State government. He further enhanced these schools, both public and mission ones, with resources such as computers, libraries, internet connectivity, generators, and laboratory equipment. He also ensured that each secondary school in the state was equipped with school buses and other vital academic resources.
