The Department of Civil-Military Affairs of the Nigerian Army is set to host a seminar for media professionals in the southeast.

The event, themed “Boosting National Security via Responsible Social Media Use,” is designed to encourage ethical online behavior and counteract the dissemination of false information.

The seminar is slated for Tuesday, April 23rd, at the GIA Event Center in Aba, Abia State. It will cater to bloggers, social media influencers, journalists, and other media stakeholders from the southeast region. This event represents the 33rd installment of the Nigerian Army’s social media outreach program, which seeks to collaborate with key media figures to tackle national security issues.

Captain J.G Pam, the coordinator for the Department of Civil-Military Affairs in Abia State, elaborated on the initiative in a statement issued on Monday. He said, “In line with its transformation agenda and the desire to engage more with Nigerian citizens, the Nigerian Army has initiated several awareness programs. The 33rd edition, which is the first of its kind in Abia State, is scheduled for Aba, Abia State on April 23, 2024. All participants who are accredited will receive a Certificate of Participation at the conclusion of the event.”
