Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has donated ₦100 million to the Borno State government to aid victims of the recent devastating floods.

During a meeting with Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Sunday, Atiku expressed deep concern over the disaster, which he described as unprecedented in the state’s history. He emphasized the need for collective support to address the situation and promised his commitment to the rebuilding efforts in Maiduguri and other flood-affected areas.

In his remarks, Atiku said, “This disaster is monumental, and it requires the assistance of everyone. Whatever affects Borno affects me as well. We have come to commiserate with the government and people of Borno, and I want to assure you that you are not alone during this tragic time. My contribution to the rebuilding of Borno State is ₦100 million, and we will coordinate on how to best direct these funds.”

Atiku also extended his condolences to the families who lost loved ones, offering prayers for the repose of their souls.

Later on Sunday, via his X handle, Atiku reaffirmed his solidarity with the people of Borno: “I commiserate with the government and people of Borno State over the catastrophic flooding that led to the tragic loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of hundreds of thousands. You are not alone in this difficult time, and I pledge my full support towards the rebuilding efforts.”

Atiku’s generous donation and his commitment to the recovery process highlight his dedication to supporting disaster-stricken communities in their time of need.
