Employees of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have staged a shutdown of the service’s headquarters in Abuja, in protest of Tola Odeyemi’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General.

Presidential spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale had recently disclosed that President Bola Tinubu made changes to the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.

However, shortly after Odeyemi’s appointment was announced, there were reports suggesting that Adeyemi Adepoju, the ousted Post Master-General, had been reinstated.

In a widely circulated video, Adepoju was seen addressing workers who asserted that Tinubu had reappointed him.

On Monday, the protesting employees barred the newly appointed NIPOST CEO from entering, contending that her appointment was contrary to their preferences.

The workers, expressing a preference for Adepoju, rallied with chants and displayed placards.
