According to LEADERSHIP; Popular search engine, Google, has referred to the embattled Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as ‘former governor’ apparently following the judgement of the State Election Petitions Tribunal, which instead returned his closest challenger and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Nasir Gawuna, as the actual winner of the March 18 election.

While a popular online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, recognised Abba Kabir Yusuf as the incumbent governor of Kano State, a google search of his name, however, says he is the former governor.

LEADERSHIP reports that both Yusuf and his party, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), had already approached the Appeal Court to challenge the Tribunal judgement. By implication, Yusuf remains the governor of Kano State until the final arbitration of the case at the highest court in the land, according to the Nigerian legal system.
