Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, has raised concerns over what he described as deliberate suppression of votes in his stronghold.

He accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of arriving late at his polling unit, hindering the voting process.

Reports from THE WHISTLER confirm that INEC officials only arrived at Ighodalo’s polling unit around 10:30 AM, significantly behind schedule.

As the officials began setting up, Ighodalo, who had already arrived at the Idrion Vocational Centre polling unit in Idinro, Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, was visibly frustrated by the delay.

INEC representatives reassured the candidate that voting would continue past the official closing time of 2:30 PM, ensuring all eligible voters cast their ballots.

However, Ighodalo expressed disappointment, stating that INEC had failed to meet its promises despite prior assurances of efficiency.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
