Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (North-west) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a stark warning to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.

Accusing Sani of waging a proxy war on behalf of President Bola Tinubu against his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, Lukman vowed to ensure both Sani and Tinubu are voted out of power by 2027.

In a letter titled “Issues of Politics and Governance in Kaduna: The Truth,” dated June 13, 2024, and copied to several prominent political figures, Lukman expressed his dismay at the current administration’s direction. He accused Sani of setting dangerous precedents and acting in ways that could ultimately harm his political future.

“I am honestly worried for you. You are setting a precedent that will hurt you. All I can say is, be careful. Maximum, in the next seven years, you will be out. You must recognize that without Mallam, it would almost have been impossible for you to rise to where you are today,” Lukman wrote.

Lukman criticized both Sani and Tinubu for alienating themselves from democratic principles and behaving autocratically. He warned that their actions could undermine the democratic achievements of the past 25 years. Reflecting on a recent meeting, Lukman lamented that it had devolved into a mere photo opportunity, failing to address the serious issues at hand.

“Unfortunately, both President Asiwaju Tinubu and you have alienated yourselves and are behaving as autocrats. If left unchecked, whatever has been achieved under this democracy in the last 25 years will be destroyed,” Lukman asserted.

He further expressed his frustration with the APC’s current state, highlighting the party’s lack of meaningful engagement and democratic practices. Lukman, positioning himself as a senior brother, urged Sani to reform and warned of the impending political mobilization against him and Tinubu.

“I have therefore made up my mind to return to the trenches and resume mobilization for change. Unless APC and you, our leaders, embrace change and return to some level of sanity, we will mobilize to get you out of power in 2027 at all levels,” Lukman declared.

Concluding his letter, Lukman emphasized the local nature of politics and warned that unless there were significant reforms, the campaign to defeat APC and President Tinubu would gain momentum, starting in Kaduna State.
