Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, plans to contribute approximately $45 million per month to a newly formed super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal.

The America PAC

The super PAC, named America PAC, was established in late May 2024 and has already received significant financial backing from other prominent figures, including Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, cryptocurrency entrepreneurs Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, coal executive Joe Craft.

Musk’s Commitment and Potential Impact

Musk’s reported $45 million monthly commitment to the America PAC is poised to become one of the largest individual contributions in the 2024 presidential election cycle, potentially reaching hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of the campaign. This level of spending is unprecedented and could have a significant impact on the election.

Musk’s Shift in Stance

This commitment marks a shift in Musk’s previous stance, as he had earlier pledged to remain uninvolved in the 2024 election. However, Musk endorsed Trump shortly after the former president survived an assassination attempt at a campaign event, expressing his full support for Trump’s recovery and candidacy.

America PAC’s Focus

The America PAC will primarily focus on voter registration and encouraging early and mail-in voting in swing states, aiming to counteract the Democrats’ historically strong voter mobilization efforts.
