The Nigeria Police have introduced a new Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in Enugu, designed to handle grievances against police officers with greater professionalism.

The CRU will manage and address complaints regarding unprofessional conduct within the force.

Enugu State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, urged citizens to report any instances of police misconduct directly to the unit through the provided phone numbers (09160002486, 07059160602, 08176455557) or via text and WhatsApp (09160002487). Complaints can also be sent to enugupolicecomplaint@gmail.com.

In response, Commissioner of Police CP Kanayo Uzuegbu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and stated that any infractions would be dealt with sternly. He encouraged citizens to use the available contacts and social media platforms to report misconduct, emphasizing that discipline is crucial to the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Uzuegbu also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetukun for supporting the CRU’s establishment and to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Nigeria for their assistance in setting up and equipping the new office. The Commissioner promised that every effort would be made to ensure the CRU operates effectively.
