The tenure of Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may soon be over, as the party prepares for its crucial national caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings next week.

The national caucus meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, at 6:00 PM in the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, while the NEC meeting will follow on Thursday, September 12, at 10:00 AM in the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

These meetings, confirmed by a statement from the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, have sparked speculation about possible changes in the party’s leadership. The statement, titled “NOTICE OF NATIONAL CAUCUS AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (NEC) MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 11 AND 12 RESPECTIVELY,” has intensified rumors of an impending leadership shift.

Reports suggest that President Bola Tinubu is considering an ambassadorial role for Ganduje, who became APC National Chairman on August 3, 2023. The proposed appointment is for an ambassadorial post in an African country, with Chad being a likely destination due to Ganduje’s past experience as the executive secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission from 2009 to 2011. However, Ganduje is reportedly displeased with the offer.

According to THE WHISTLER, if Ganduje accepts the ambassadorial position, he could gain diplomatic immunity from the ongoing corruption trial in Kano, where he and his family members face accusations of misappropriating over N50 billion.
