The Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Edison Ehie, has made a startling revelation, claiming that he was offered a bribe to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking at a rally in Ahoada East, Ehie did not disclose the identities of those behind the offer but shared details of the alleged plot, garnering support from the gathered crowd.

In a viral video from the rally, Ehie stated, “They invited me to impeach the governor, but I declined. Despite being offered money, which I refused, they later declared me wanted.” This comes after Ehie was previously wanted by the police in connection with the invasion of the State House of Assembly.

The state witnessed turmoil last October when an explosion rocked the assembly building during reports of lawmakers seeking to impeach Fubara. Allegations surfaced linking individuals close to the governor to the incident. The Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers filed complaints against Ehie with the Rivers State Police Command over the invasion and arson of the assembly chambers by unidentified individuals.

Ehie’s disclosure adds to the ongoing crisis in the state, fueled by the longstanding conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
