The Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to reverse its recent decision concerning the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress ADC warning that failure to do so could damage public trust ahead of the 2027 general elections

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins the council expressed worry that INEC’s action may spark unnecessary political tension and weaken confidence in the electoral system

IPAC specifically pointed to the reported removal of the names of Distinguished Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from INEC’s official portal describing the move as premature and capable of creating instability within the political environment

The council stressed that internal disagreements within political parties should not be interpreted as a complete absence of leadership warning that such actions if not properly handled could set a dangerous precedent and raise doubts about INEC’s neutrality

Beyond the ADC issue IPAC also raised serious concerns about the planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise stating that the timing could create more problems than solutions

According to the council political parties are already dealing with heavy responsibilities under the new Electoral Act including nationwide membership registration that requires NIN verification within a tight schedule as well as preparations for party primaries and compliance checks by INEC

IPAC warned that introducing another nationwide exercise without proper consultation and preparation could overwhelm the system and lead to the exclusion of many eligible voters

The council therefore urged INEC to review the timing of the exercise to avoid creating a congested electoral process that may end up disenfranchising citizens instead of encouraging wider participation

On national security IPAC strongly condemned the recent killings in Plateau State describing them as senseless acts of violence that threaten the unity and stability of the country

The council called for swift action by authorities demanding that those responsible for the attacks along with their sponsors be arrested and brought to justice without delay
