Renowned EdTech innovator Dr. Usman Isyaku issued a stark warning via X about the political trajectory of Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dr. Isyaku argued that the “southern turn” being employed by Tinubu and his allies is not only shortsighted but dangerously divisive as the country edges closer to a national election.

He emphasized that the northern region had played a pivotal role in Tinubu’s 2023 victory, delivering approximately 63% of the manipulated vote share a result, he claimed, built on a “Muslim-Muslim deception” that pandered to religious and regional sentiments. According to Isyaku, Tinubu is now pivoting toward southern interests, a move that could provoke a retaliatory wave of regional and tribal politicking from the north, which he believes the southwestern wing of the APC would be ill-equipped to contain.

The EdTech expert drew historical parallels to the controversial ousting of former President Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner, questioning the legitimacy and motivations behind his removal. “What was Jonathan’s offence?” Isyaku asked rhetorically, suggesting that his administration’s economic policies were far more stable than the “chaos created over the past decade.”

Dr. Isyaku didn’t hold back in his criticism of the APC’s governance, accusing them of “destroying Nigeria” and of deliberately misleading the public with cherry-picked statistics that fail to reflect the country’s pre-2015 progress. He labeled the practice a textbook case of statistical manipulation, casting doubt on the authenticity of the party’s accomplishments.

As Nigeria heads into another potentially volatile election cycle, voices like Dr. Isyaku’s are amplifying public discourse and reigniting debates around equity, regional representation, and accountability in leadership.
