Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential campaign council, has severed ties with the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the LP.

Okonkwo, who served as the campaign spokesperson of Peter Obi, during 2023 presidential election of the party has criticized the recent National Convention of the party, led by Abure, as being riddled with criminality and corruption.

Okonkwo stated, “I am severing all ties with the alleged Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party. For me, it’s a new Nigeria or nothing at all. I would rather lose doing the right thing than win doing the wrong thing. The criminality, corruption, and incompetence that marked the alleged National Convention organized by Abure cannot be overlooked.”

He added, “I didn’t leave the comfort of the ruling party, APC, which I believe is incompetent and dishonest, only to join another association marked by incompetence and corruption, which is the current Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party.”
