Former deputy leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Media and Communication of Biafra Defacto Customary Government, Uche-Mefor has vehemently condemned the separatist movement for enlisting child soldier into the dreaded Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The condemnation is coming after NewsBand had earlier reported about a viral video of a child soldier sited among the operatives of ESN in Orsu LGA of Imo state.

Meanwhile, Mefor in a statement which a copy was made available to NewsBand, said IPOB has completely destroyed the support it gained over the years through the painstaking effort of men and women of goodwill that embraced the good news of Biafra.

He further said that IPOB has also destroyed the compelling case it has against the Nigerian government at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Mefor however, urged the group to desist from criminalising the Biafra movement.

The statement read, “So, it has also got to the level of enlisting “child soldier”? Is this conscription or abduction? IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu (IPONK) has completely destroyed the goodwill garnered over the years through the painstaking effort of men and women of goodwill that embraced the good news and the insurmountability and audacity of the Biafra case and argument.

“We have been your shield, checkmating your excesses and guarding and guiding this movement to the right channel with minimal damages until the last quarter of 2020 when you all decided to go wholesale into criminality. We are proud of our stance that IPOB must be human rights compliant at the time.

“You have all destroyed the compelling case against Nigeria at the ICC. Crime against humanity and individual criminal liability are real and engages the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). IPONK must stop criminalising the Biafra struggle.

“I will not repost the video because Facebook will definitely sanction my account.”
