Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo for failing to tackle Nigeria’s challenges despite having numerous opportunities to do so during his time in office.

Amadi made this assertion in response to a social media post by a user identified as [Gen_Buhar], who highlighted the 2006 impeachment of Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo State. According to the post, Ladoja was removed from office for allegedly refusing to hand over N15 million from the state’s monthly security vote to political leader Lamidi Adedibu, a move allegedly backed by Obasanjo’s administration.

In a video shared by Gen_Buhar, the caption read: “January 2006: Sen Ladoja was illegally removed for refusing to give N15 million of the state’s N65 million monthly security vote to Adedibu. Obasanjo, who now claims to have solutions to all of Nigeria’s problems, was President at the time and supported this. Today, despite his questionable legacy, he’s revered because we have short memories. Obasanjo was also furious with Ladoja for opposing his failed third-term agenda.”

Amadi, responding via his X (formerly Twitter) account, stated: “Terrible. Obasanjo had more opportunities than anyone else to change Nigeria. But he failed to do so due to personal moral shortcomings.”
