Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, has addressed concerns raised after his recent interview with News Central TV.
Obi noted that some individuals have deliberately twisted his statements for propaganda purposes.
Clarifying his position, Obi emphasized that he is focused on addressing Nigeria’s pressing issues, such as hunger, poverty, and insecurity, rather than being consumed with the 2027 election. He stressed his willingness to collaborate with others, as long as their intentions are not geared toward state capture, and reaffirmed his allegiance to the Labour Party.
Obi reiterated his stance that he is not desperate for the presidency or any political office. Instead, he is committed to contributing to Nigeria’s development, whether in or out of public office. He firmly rejected any claims that he expressed interest in serving as a vice president, asserting that his priority remains building a better Nigeria.
Finally, Obi reaffirmed that he remains open to partnerships with those who share his vision for advancing the country, especially in areas like education, poverty alleviation, and healthcare. His commitment to Nigeria, he stated, is unwavering, and he remains dedicated to its progress regardless of political position.
