Amidst the ongoing wave of protests surging through Nigeria’s cities, the unrest has now reached Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. Frustrated residents took to the streets on Monday, wielding placards adorned with appeals for immediate government intervention to alleviate their suffering.

The demonstrators voiced their grievances, highlighting the dire conditions faced by citizens and urging authorities to address their plight. In a poignant moment captured on video, one protester even pleaded for asylum in the United States, citing the unbearable hardships prevailing in Nigeria.

The recent removal of fuel subsidies and the decision to float the naira by President Bola Tinubu have further exacerbated the already severe challenges facing the populace.

Among the protesters’ demands are an end to insecurity, improved governance, affordable essential commodities – including food, and the reopening of borders, among others.
