Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, continues to advocate for transformative initiatives that prioritize education and healthcare.

Following his speaking engagement in Yola, Adamawa State, he visited Kaduna to honor an invitation to the Kaduna Girl-Child Conference/Award 2024, organized by the Creative Think Tank Group in collaboration with the Bounty Food Bank.

Although he arrived late due to prior commitments, Obi expressed deep admiration for the passionate efforts displayed by stakeholders championing the rights and development of the girl-child. “The girl-child is indispensable to the future of our country. Empowering her through education, healthcare, and equal opportunities is not only a moral obligation but a strategic investment in national progress,” he stated.

Obi emphasized the importance of dismantling barriers and creating a safe, inclusive environment to unlock the potential of girls and contribute to sustainable development and a more equitable society.

During his visit, Obi also toured the Womanhood College of Health Sciences and Technology, an institution dedicated to training women in healthcare. He praised the school’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in this critical sector and donated ₦5 million to support their mission. “Institutions like this are vital to societal growth,” Obi remarked, pledging continued support for similar establishments.

Earlier this year, Obi had donated ₦10 million to Saint Gerard’s Nursing School in Kaduna. Despite heavy traffic preventing a planned visit, he communicated with the management, apologized for his absence, and further supported their efforts with an additional ₦5 million.

Obi underscored the urgent need to prioritize education and healthcare in Nigeria, describing them as pivotal to bridging the gap with other nations. “Supporting these sectors is not just an investment in individual lives but a step towards building a stronger and better Nigeria,” he noted.

Concluding, Obi reiterated his optimism, declaring, “A new Nigeria is now very POssible!”
